I finished going through the fundamentals course in “The Odin Project” and read through the accessibility page from the React docs. I am not the best at all the accessibility issues but covering the page was a great introduction to the topic. It provided a few really good resources to help me get started. I need to come back to this a few more times but it was a nice place to start improving. I have definitely fallen short at making my projects more accessible.
TLDR;
Okay, so here are the highlights of what I did:
- JavaScript -> Finished going through the React docs accessibility section in the “Advanced Guides”. There are about 21 topics in the Advanced Guides which I will try to cover whenever I can fit them in.
- Practice -> Completed all the fundamentals course in “The Odin Project”. The last few sections discussed back-end development and frameworks. Overall, I must say I am a big fan of “The Odin Project”. The resources they provided throughout the course was very helpful. It helped to fill in some of my blanks and reaffirmed some of my assumptions. Things feel a lot more tangible moving forward. I can now proceed to their “Full Stack” curriculum. I chose to proceed with JavaScript instead of learning Ruby. I will definitely come back to do the Ruby track afterwards. Me and programming languages are like Pokémon. “I got to learn them all” – lol
Goal For Round 7 of the #100DaysofCode Challenge
This is my seventh round of the “#100daysofcode” challenge. I will be continuing my work from round five and round six into round seven. I am currently working through the book “Cracking the Coding Interview” by Gayle Laakmann McDowell. My goal is to become more familiar with algorithms and data structures. This goal was derived from my goal to better understand operating systems and key programs that I use in the terminal regularly e.g. Git. This goal was in turn derived from my desire to better understand the fundamental tools used for coding outside of popular GUIs. This in turn was derived from my desire to be a better back-end developer.
I have no idea if my path is correct but I am walking down this road anyways. Worst case scenario I learn a whole bunch of stuff that will help me out on my own personal projects.
