Day 84: Being Bored is a Good Thing

I completed the Test Driven Development practice project. It was fairly straightforward and that’s a good thing. For so long I have been learning so much that I look at not struggling as a bad thing. I need to learn how to enjoy knowing things and being able to apply that knowledge. It will still take some adjustment and I still have so much to learn but slowly I will deal with more problems I know how to solve than I don’t. I’m not grinding just to keep grinding. I want to apply what I learn and keep applying it. It doesn’t always have to be something new.

TLDR;

Okay, so here are the highlights of what I did:

  • JavaScript -> Started looking into mocking again with Jest. I never got a real hang for it the first time around so maybe after all my reviewing mocking will be easier for me now.
  • Practice -> Finished working on the Testing Practice project. Either I am getting better or I did something wrong in the assignment LOL. Maybe they should have given me the exact test data I was meant to work with. Here is the repo

Goal For Round 7 of the #100DaysofCode Challenge

This is my seventh round of the “#100daysofcode” challenge. I will be continuing my work from round five and round six into round seven. I am currently working through the book “Cracking the Coding Interview” by Gayle Laakmann McDowell. My goal is to become more familiar with algorithms and data structures. This goal was derived from my goal to better understand operating systems and key programs that I use in the terminal regularly e.g. Git. This goal was in turn derived from my desire to better understand the fundamental tools used for coding outside of popular GUIs. This in turn was derived from my desire to be a better back-end developer.

I have no idea if my path is correct but I am walking down this road anyways. Worst case scenario I learn a whole bunch of stuff that will help me out on my own personal projects.
